CourtMate (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the CourtMate mobile app and related services at courtmate.app (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Summary
CourtMate is designed to keep scoring on court, not to build advertising profiles.
- You can use basic scoring without an account (limited free daily use).
- Voice score calls (“15–love”, “deuce”, etc.) are processed on your device whenever possible.
- AI features (voice match setup, “Hey Score” assistant) send text to our servers, which forward requests to Anthropic’s Claude API.
- Sign-in is optional for basic scoring, but required for cloud features such as Insights, Find a Player, and unlimited matches.
- We do not sell your personal data.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Email address and password — when you create or sign in to an account
- Name — when you sign up or use Apple / Google sign-in
- Profile photo — if provided by Apple or Google sign-in
- Player names — when you set up a match
- Match results — during and after matches (stored locally; synced to the cloud when signed in)
- Find-a-player notes and skill level — when you post a request
- Subscription purchases — when you buy CourtMate Pro
Information collected automatically
- Device identifiers — to enforce free-tier limits, validate subscriptions, and limit anonymous AI use
- App usage (e.g. sets played, AI features used) — to enforce limits and keep the App reliable
- Approximate location — for Find a Player, to show requests within about 100 metres (with your permission)
- Purchase and entitlement status — to verify CourtMate Pro access
Permissions-based data
Microphone (iPhone and Apple Watch)
Used to hear score calls and voice commands. Audio is processed for speech recognition on your device. We do not permanently store raw audio recordings on our servers.
Speech recognition
Used to convert spoken score phrases into text on your device. Standard score calls stay local. AI assistant commands may be sent as text to our backend.
Location (while using the App)
Used only for Find a Player to show requests near your court. We do not track your location in the background for this feature.
Apple Health / Fitness (Apple Watch, with permission)
With your consent, CourtMate may read heart rate and energy burned during a match and save workout data to Apple Fitness so your session counts toward activity rings. Health data stays under Apple’s HealthKit controls and is not uploaded to our servers.
How we use your information
We use information to:
- Run the scoreboard and match tracking features
- Authenticate your account and sync match history (when signed in)
- Provide AI voice setup and “Hey Score” assistant features
- Enable shared match links so others can follow or view results
- Show nearby Find-a-Player requests
- Manage subscriptions and restore purchases
- Enforce free-tier limits and prevent abuse
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data for third-party advertising or sell personal information.
Voice and AI processing
CourtMate has two voice modes:
Fast Score Mode (local)
Common score phrases are interpreted on your device. No cloud AI is required.
AI assistant mode
When you use voice match setup or “Hey Score”, the App sends text (transcripts and match context such as current score and player names) to our backend. Our server forwards that text to Anthropic (Claude) to interpret your request and returns a structured response to the App.
We log which AI features are used (feature name and timestamp) for cost control and abuse prevention. We do not use AI conversations to train our own models.

Match sharing
When you share a match, CourtMate creates a link (for example https://courtmate.app/m/…) containing team names, scores, match events, and whether the match is live or finished.
Anyone with the link can view that shared match. Only share links with people you trust. Do not include sensitive personal information in player names.
Local storage vs cloud sync
Without an account, match history and settings are stored locally on your device.
With an account, match sessions may be synced to our database so Insights and cross-device features work. Deleting your account will remove associated cloud data, subject to backup retention periods.
Third-party service providers
We use trusted providers to operate the App:
- Supabase — authentication, database, server functions (supabase.com/privacy)
- Anthropic — AI processing for assistant features (anthropic.com/privacy)
- RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management (revenuecat.com/privacy)
- Apple — App Store, Sign in with Apple, HealthKit, Apple Watch (apple.com/legal/privacy)
- Google — Sign in with Google, if enabled (policies.google.com/privacy)
These providers process data on our behalf under their terms and applicable data protection laws.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or complain to your local data protection authority.

You can also delete local data by uninstalling the App, revoke permissions in iOS Settings (Microphone, Location, Health), and manage subscriptions in App Store account settings or through CourtMate Pro.
Children’s privacy
CourtMate is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), authenticated database access, and row-level security so users can only access their own account data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States, European Union, or other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version at courtmate.app/privacy and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
